In a titanic clash of floorball rivals, YJC was defeated by rivals MJC in an extremely intense 45 minutes. YJC persevered on despite MJC taking an early lead in an own goal. Luck was definitely not on YJC's side when the referee made slow calls against YJC.
In period 2, when a goal was scored but the referee did not award it to YJC, a player rushed out to congratulate the 'goal-scorer' but instead, YJC was awarded a 2 minute penalty for Incorrect Substitution when the player failed to return to the bench when he realised his mistake. MJC capitalised on the power play and scored against YJC.
YJC was awarded another 2 minute penalty by the referee for slashing (or was it pushing?). Fortunately, YJC held together and managed to ride out the power play with a solid defense. YJC captain, Ding Jun, truly understood the meaning of sacrifice and gave his all to prevent MJC captain, Glendon Phua from scoring (which resulted in DJ being injured, thanks DJ!!)
YJC wasted numerous free hits through the game before a goal was scored in period 3. Sadly that was the only goal scored by YJC before the final whistle was blown with YJC losing 1-5 to MJC.
Although the score was skewed in favour of MJC, it was extremely heartwarming to watch YJC play their hearts out, giving their all not surrendering ground until the final whistle was blown.
Results:
RJC vs VJC (2-2)
RJC finishes top of their group due to goal difference. We would most probably be playing RJC in the semi-finals. Guys, please rest (for DJ, recover!) and be physically and mentally prepared for an equally thrilling match on Monday (regardless of opponent). How much do you want the Challenge Cup? It's all or nothing. Give it your all. We are a team: TEAM YJC! GO VANGUARDS!!
