YJC versus VJC

"Winning isn't everything, but the effort to win is." - Zig Ziglar

Congratulations guys on overcoming insurmountable odds to defeat VJC with a score of 5-4!!

All our trainings was worth it, we came, battled and improved!! We played a fantastic game today and everyone contributed to our victory.

The EXCO like to thank the team for their commitment and hardwork, as well as the sacrifices that has been made, both individually and as a team. It was not for naught, we are THIRD!

Personally, having seen the team grow from a nobody to one of the top schools in the 'A' Divs, it is incredible and I thank all players from past years and present for making it a wonderful journey for me and the team.

Special thanks to the following people who stuck with the team through thick and thin (in no particular order):

1. Mdm Shelia and Mr Ian Ong - for opening the hall and fighting for the use of the hall for our holiday trainings with the other CCAs, as well as providing pointers for individual improvement, arranging logistics for the matches during competition times.

2. Coach Ngasti, Serena and Hilman - for their dedication to training the team and pushing us to achieve greater heights, individually and as a team, coming down during their holidays to train us and encouraged us when we were down

3. Mdm Koh (YJC's Principal) - for providing us with inspiration before today's game and encouraging us by telling us that the outcome of the game was not as important as the game itself and by challenging us to overcome, not our opponents, but ourselves.

4. Lim Ding Jun, Gary Ding and Mark Chua - for providing the incessant nagging and scolding us to improve ourselves, individually and as a team, as well as pushing us beyond our limits and surpassing ourselves. For providing the listening ear and constant stream of encouragement to the team (as well as taking the brunt of scoldings for the team), and still being there for us when we needed it. For being the hard disciplinarian and physical fitness trainer who picked on the nitty gritty stuf (like ankle socks) and conditioned us from fat to fit, as well as his much unwanted but expected lame jokes.

5. Yan Shi and Ivan Louise - for their spectacular goal-keeping skills and their equally funny jokes about stenches and Harry Potter (not limited to and inclusive of), not to mention, Ivan crying when we won the match.

6. Girl's team - for constantly cheering and supporting us through our matches as well as video taping the matches for us to view and improve.

7. Farhan, Jasdeep, Nikhil and Ruben - for his RIDICULOUS cheers that made both teams laugh as it did encourage them on. For his apparel that bonded the team together with our jokes about it and his magnanimous character that laughed along with the jokes (sometimes, albeit rarely). For their non-stop nonsense about graph paper and everything else (especially Jasdeep's taste in music, Ding-ga-taka-taka ding-ga-taka-taka)

8. Marc and Nicholas - for creating and updating this blog (although slacking off occasionally, then again, rather often) and his 'Botak' hair that we like to touch. For scoring goals in the most important match, demonstrating his skill and giving hope to the next generation of floorballers in YJC, and losing his teeth during the course of the match (how he found the portion that broke off, you have to ask him). Now we have Botak and Bogei!

Please wear the Full White Jersey for tomorrow's prize presentation. Complete with the long socks and court shoes. Let's look professional too.

YJC floorball guys wishes GOOD LUCK to the girls in winning tomorrow's match against MJC.

YJC versus RJC

Congratulations girls on defeating RJC 3-0 and earning a place in the Finals.

YJC versus MJC

In a titanic clash of floorball rivals, YJC was defeated by rivals MJC in an extremely intense 45 minutes. YJC persevered on despite MJC taking an early lead in an own goal. Luck was definitely not on YJC's side when the referee made slow calls against YJC.

In period 2, when a goal was scored but the referee did not award it to YJC, a player rushed out to congratulate the 'goal-scorer' but instead, YJC was awarded a 2 minute penalty for Incorrect Substitution when the player failed to return to the bench when he realised his mistake. MJC capitalised on the power play and scored against YJC.

YJC was awarded another 2 minute penalty by the referee for slashing (or was it pushing?). Fortunately, YJC held together and managed to ride out the power play with a solid defense. YJC captain, Ding Jun, truly understood the meaning of sacrifice and gave his all to prevent MJC captain, Glendon Phua from scoring (which resulted in DJ being injured, thanks DJ!!)

YJC wasted numerous free hits through the game before a goal was scored in period 3. Sadly that was the only goal scored by YJC before the final whistle was blown with YJC losing 1-5 to MJC.

Although the score was skewed in favour of MJC, it was extremely heartwarming to watch YJC play their hearts out, giving their all not surrendering ground until the final whistle was blown.

Results:
RJC vs VJC (2-2)

RJC finishes top of their group due to goal difference. We would most probably be playing RJC in the semi-finals. Guys, please rest (for DJ, recover!) and be physically and mentally prepared for an equally thrilling match on Monday (regardless of opponent). How much do you want the Challenge Cup? It's all or nothing. Give it your all. We are a team: TEAM YJC! GO VANGUARDS!!

Floorball skills

Girls and guys, please check out this website:

http://southernvipers.com/dvdmenu.htm

The English videos are on the extreme right hand side of the screen. The upper table is 500 kbps and the lower one is 300 kbps streaming. The clips are of basic techniques used in floorball. They are not definitive nor are they approved by YJC floorball as training videos. They should only be used to supplement your own training.

Please take note that videos may be nice to watch, but true learning comes from actual trying out the skills you may pick up from the videos.

YJC versus VJC

YJC defeats VJC with score 6-3 (4-2, 4-3, 6-3)

Congratulations girls on overcoming VJC! It was a very tough battle. You guys have done yourself proud!

HOWEVER, it is not the end of the road. There are more match coming up to encounter. The road is getting tough but if we stick as a team and encourage one another, no obstacles will be too tough to overcome! YJC NIMBUS!

We wish the girls all the best in tomorrow's match against VJC.

YJC versus NJC

After an arduous battle with NJC, our girls drew a 1-1 stalemate with them at full time.

Ladies, please do not be disheartened, there is hope for the Championship still. Like what DJ would say, 'Focus on the game, everything else is secondary.' Likewise, the next game is the important one, we cannot change the past, but anything is possible in the future.
